Two photos of Red Funnel line catamarans on the foot passenger service between Southampton and Cowes.
Next two Red Funnel line car ferries, linking the same ports as the cats above.
Then another car carrier, the Tijuca of Wallenius Wilhelmsen was out bound.
An expected vessel, though she is locally based, the SS Shieldhall a general cargo-passenger steamer. I've got some photos of her berthing on my other site at Weymouth Find all about her on SS Shieldhall, Steam powered General Cargo-Passenger Steamer The first of four cruise ships that we could see in the docks to pass us was P&O Cruises Ventura, one of their largest with a capacity of 3,078 guests and 15 decks.
Next to appear was Cunard's Queen Mary 2. She is a magnificent sight and sound! She is slightly less tonnage than the Ventura but has a luxury capacity of 2,620 guests on 14 decks. Third in the line was Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas largest of the four with a capacity of 3,634 guests on 15 decks.
Last was another from P&O, the Oceana, smaller with a capacity of 2,016 guests and 11 decks.
The glamorous cruise ships were followed by OOCL Hamburg a Hong Kong registered container ship with a capacity of 8,063 20' equivalent container units.
