Events in 2004


The programme of special events on the WSR in 2004 is as follows:-

Thu-Sun 25-28 March SPRING STEAM GALA
This event will have a "Cambrian" theme and will feature Nos 7820, 5542, 6412, 80136, plus 'the new GW Mogul' (5193) and several 'guest' engines.

Sat-Sun 17-18 April Diesel Running Days

Fri-Sun 7-9 May DIESEL GALA
The return of a major diesel event to the WSR after an absence of several years, with a number of visiting locomotives.

Sat-Sun 5-6 June Diesel Running Days

Sun 20 June "Fathers Day" Diesel Running Day

Sat-Sun 3-4 July DAYS OUT WITH THOMAS

Sat-Sun 10-11 July Diesel Running Days

Sat-Sun 7-8 August STEAM FAYRE & VINTAGE VEHICLE RALLY at Bishops Lydeard

Sat-Sun 14-15 August DIESEL GALA
This diesel event will feature the Railway's 'in-house' fleet - D1010, D7017, D9526, 6566 etc.

Sat-Sun 4-5 September Diesel Running Days

Sat-Sun 11-12 September CAMRA REAL ALE FESTIVAL at Minehead Station
A 'must' for all those who enjoy railways and real ale!

Fri-Sun 1-3 October AUTUMN STEAM GALA
Now established on the first weekend of October..........a feast of steam working an intensive timetable.

Sat-Sun 9-10 October Diesel Running Days

Sat-Sun 23-24 October GRAND TRAINS EXTRAVAGANZA
Lots of trains, worked by both steam and diesel.

Fri-Sat 3-4 December DUNSTER BY CANDLELIGHT
Special trains to this very popular local event.

27-28 November; 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 23, 24 December SANTA SPECIALS

Wed 29 December WINTER STEAM FESTIVAL
A West Country branch line in winter.............an intensive service of steam trains.

In addition, there will also be a series of DIESEL RUNNING DAYS through the course of the year - details to be announced.
